Holiday season like no other before. But one thing is a tradition, watching the good old Christmas films. When you hear about Christmas films, there’s no doubt that the classics that come to mind first are “Home Alone”. Yet on the other hand, Christmas films are also known as romantic, magical, holiday films. Let’s remember a few of the best of them.

Home Alone & Home Alone 2

It’s been 30 years since we’ve met Kevin, an eight-year-old boy, who his family accidentally leaves behind when they go on Christmas vacation. When wakes up to an empty house, he thinks his wish to make his family disappear came true. But soon, he discovers two burglars on his street. Needless to say, we will never forget Kevin’s masterplan to take on Harry and Marc. Home Alone 2 came out 2 years later, in 1992. This time, the McCallister were about to spend Christmas in Miami, but in true Kevin fashion, he ended up home alone, again. Boarding the wrong plane and landing in the dreamy New York, that is absolutely magical during the holiday season, Kevin ran into none other than Harry and Marv. They have just escaped prison and when they run into Kevin, they wanted their revenge. But once again, they didn’t stand a chance against Kevin. These two classics are one of the best comedies ever and they never get old, even when you watch them every Christmas.

Home Alone 3

Even though this sequel didn’t include Kevin, it was and still is hilarious. Little Alex is home alone with chickenpox, when he spots new neighbours in his street, who happen to be international criminals looking for microchip that actually landed in Alex’s hands after a luggage mix-up at the airport. When no one believes Alex that he spotted 4 burglars breaking in his neighbours’ homes, he decides to take matters in his own hands. When they decide to break into his house, they don’t see the traps Alex set for them coming.

Love Actually

One of the most iconic romantic Christmas films, featuring an ensemble cast. The film dives into different aspects of love as it follows ten separate stories. Many of the individuals from these stories are somehow connected to one another. The story begins five weeks before Christmas and is played out in a weekly countdown until the holiday, followed by an epilogue that takes place one month later. In one sentence, love is all around in this holiday classic.

The Holiday

A romantic comedy holiday film about two women with broken hearts. Iris lives in London and Amanda is from Los Angeles. For the holidays they decide to switch houses for two weeks. While Iris enjoys Amanda’s luxury home, Amanda has harder time to adjust to life in Surrey. In the end they see that the switch of homes was one of their best decisions, as they both happily fall in love.

Operation Christmas Drop

Operation Christmas Drop is a new, 2020 Christmas film, which you can watch on Netflix. It is not your typical romantic Christmas film and it is based on a real life U.S. Air Force humanitarian mission Operation Christmas drop on the island of Guam. It is the first film that was actually filmed on the live Air Force base. The mission is a decades-old tradition, that sees gifts and supplies being parachuted to the residents of remote neighboring islands. This is an untraditional Christmas film, but definitely a very good one.
